A few years ago, COMMIT began construction projects at the request of the communities of Nandarola and San Luis, which needed dedicated spaces for their sewing co-ops. Understanding the broader potential of these facilities, COMMIT was honored to provide buildings that now serve multiple vital purposes.

These spaces support sewing co-ops by empowering local women with a safe, organized place to work, learn, and create. They also function as community hubs where villagers gather to plan and collaborate on local initiatives. In addition, the buildings serve as medical clinic sites, bringing essential healthcare services directly to these rural communities.

COMMIT also built a medical center in the very remote village of Camerones, where a doctor and nurse stay during the week to provide care. This facility has been life-changing for the community, offering consistent access to medical services that were previously out of reach.

By improving access to healthcare and providing spaces that foster economic opportunity and collaboration, these buildings have had a profound impact. This initiative reflects COMMIT’s commitment to addressing immediate needs while creating sustainable solutions for long-term community growth and resilience.
